Tasting Notes:
AZAMOR Petit Verdot has 85% petit Verdot and 15% Syrah. It is an exceptionally elegant red wine with a beautifully delicate fruit aroma, soft fresh fruit flavours and a classic French oak barrel lift, the wine finishes with lingering soft ripe tannins. This wine has received minimum handling, and was only lightly filtered prior to bottling it may therefore form a natural deposit with time.

Harvest: Petit Verdot was picked on the 18th, 23rd and 24th of September. The fruit was in great condition and beautifully structured. we added 15% Syrah to add a fruit lift, as the Petit Verdot was very austere this vintage.

Vinification:
Fermentation: The Petit Verdot grapes were fermented in a separate stainless steel 10 ton
tank for 10 days starting slowly at around 21ºc and gradually increasing to 24ºC by the 9th day. It was left on skins before being pressed and before going through malolatic fermentation.
Aging: The Petit Verdot wine was aged for 12 months in our cellars, 50% in New French Saury Barrels, and the remainder in stainless steel tanks.

Weather Conditions: The 2008 season was a fresh, with a wet winter and slowly increasing temperatures until the summer. When the summer arrived there was a hot spell for two weeks. Rainfall was around 550mm and the Azamor vineyards produced above average quantities of grapes.
